Low & slow
Opening night of “Low and Slow” at House Of Danger Gallery
“Low and “Slow” photo and art exhibition featuring Jose Cerda and Jason Acuña, at House of Danger Gallery, in Costa Mesa.
The red carpet was filled outside the front door, with an ever growing line of attendees admiring Jose Cerda’s show logo, hand painted on the front window, and inside the window a line up of low rider collector style cars, setting the mood for the evening.
Inside, the artists and gallery crew finished up the final show details, the spotlight on the new gallery walls outside, the slow and melodic nostalgic tunes, everything was perfect for the evening.
At 5 o-clock, the doors opened and people poured inside. The gallery filled with exclamations of delight, as the crowd took in the splendor. The walls were balanced with Jason’s large and vibrant film photos framed in black, on one side, and Jose’s colorful and captivating art wrapping around the other side.
Jose’s use of unusual colors on his newest and largest piece, anchoring the exhibition and highlighting the nostalgia for the evening with a beautiful rendition of his fathers vintage truck.
Dispersed amongst the crowd, several of Jason’s muses for his photos. Big Island Mike, Ace, and the owner of his favorite local coffee shop. His work showcasing a day in the life and the people who’s unique style inspired his new endeavor.
Inside the exhibition, the gallery was bustling all night long, and as patrons worked their way through the gallery to the back, the guests were dazzled by the extension of the show to the outside patio, where House of Danger had additional art and photo pieces by the Artists on outdoor gallery walls, a photo op mural on a vintage ice cream truck, and a complimentary bar, with local legend skateboarders serving up 805 and Sierra Nevada beer options as well as non alcoholic options and wine. In the corner by the mural, a small and twinkly lit lounge area. Under a large tent, tables and chairs for gathering, and with food available by Tripp Burgers, the bar area was the relaxed, joyful hangout to compliment this incredible cultural showcase.
Art lovers, skaters, collectors, friends and fans were all mingling, with so many familiar faces and lovely surprises. House of Danger, Costa Mesa’s only action sports lifestyle and counter culture Gallery was the place to be last Saturday night. The evening was nothing short of magical. The crowd, Iconic.

Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting that you can figure it out along the way.
The key to making things happen isn’t waiting for the perfect moment; it’s starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action. Whether you’re working toward a personal milestone or a professional dream, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.
You don’t need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you’re capable of more than you know. The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. What matters most is that you keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming.
